Floor Sanding Project, near Bristol.
Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Weston Super Mare
Total Floor Care recently undertook the floor sanding / restoration of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and their Meeting Room at Weston super Mare.
As you can see from the pictures, the maple wood floor in the Meeting Room was in very poor condition. Damp had caused expansion of the floor around the edges and the floor was very unstable in places.
Once the damaged floorboards had been removed the extent of the problem could be seen. As you can see from some of the photographs, gaps of up to 5” had occurred between some of the floor joists, causing this serious problem. Damaged joists were cut out and replacements installed to stabilise the floor. New floorboards were then laid to match the existing.
We sanded the floor, with the Hummel, using Sait belts 24 – 100 grit. This is a floor sanding machine linked up to a Bonavac machine to control the dust levels, with approximately 98% of the dust captured in the bag. Then using the Elan edging machine difficult corners and edges were tackled. The floor was finished using the Trio 3 disc floor sanding machine to give a smooth professional finish before lacquer was applied. |
